Increasing Access to Sexual Reproductive Health commodities and services through Private sector channels in Uganda.
COHERINET aims at increasing uptake of DKT sexual-reproductive health commodities through utilizing private sector channels.
The project implementation priority districts include:- Arua, Moyo, Yumbe, Mayuge, Jinja, Adjumani, Kamuli, Iganga, Kampala, Wakiso, Mpigi, Kalangala, Gulu, Amuru and Koboko ,Mbale, Busia, Namutumba ,Bugiri and Iganga, Koboko. With cities namely: Arua City, Jinja City and Gulu City.
Implementation in the above mentioned areas is done through our community mobilization out and in reaches, promotions, community based media engagements and peer education mobilization strategies where all the engagements are focused at increasing awareness and sensitization, increasing demand and uptake for DKT-SRH products/services and demystifying myths and misconceptions around contraception and abortion.
The engagements are further aiming at engaging community opinion and local council leaders (Religious and Cultural, Law enforcement officers and Local council Officers) through dialogues and Abortion/ Contraception Value clarification and attitude transformation sessions as an avenue to make them understand the need for acceptability, eased accessibility, provision, and uptake of services especially among the primary project beneficiaries in their respective areas.
The interventions further provide opportunities for referrals and linkages for the primary project beneficiaries to access and uptake quality decentralized cost friendly DKT products / services from the DKT partner clinics, pharmacies and public health facilities.
More so, the upgraded Aunt KAKI SRHR toll free helpline is playing a big role in ensuring that both primary and secondary project beneficiaries access reliable one on one SRHR interpersonal engagement sessions, referrals and linkages for/to quality DKT-SRH products and services.
