About Us

Who We Are

COHERINET is a Non-profit organization that was founded in 2013 by Yiga Musa, acquired its first registration certificate from URSB in 2015 and later from the NGO board in 2021 with an aim of ensuring transformation of negative social norms, gender inequalities and reproductive injustices for better sexual and reproductive health rights outcomes.

Through our holistic approach that is locally led and makes systems-level change, we work with community-based structures to ensure that among others sexual reproductive health care, including legal comprehensive abortion care and contraception, are available and accessible to all.

We strengthen and coordinate with existing private and public health systems and like- minded partners to ensure that vulnerable and marginalized adolescents, young and adults can easily uptake stigma free health services, reliable information and opportunities that can enable them to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.

From our first funding from SAAF in 2017, we have now expanded our operation coverage from 3 districts to over 20 districts in our motherland Uganda and gradually ensured utilization of our ecosystem that addresses all factors impacting a person’s ability for bodily autonomy and access to the essential health care of need from individual health knowledge, to social and community support, to a trained health workforce, to political leadership and supportive laws.
